2-day training course “Modern Employee Management” at Pikatron GmbH
Pikatron GmbH relies on future-oriented leadership skills and, in collaboration with TÜV Nord, is starting intensive training on the topic of “modern employee management”. This practical training is aimed at company managers and offers a well-founded introduction to current leadership approaches. The aim is to give participants tools that will help them successfully lead their teams through the demands of a dynamic working world.
“This training is a valuable opportunity for us to further strengthen our managers and ensure that they are optimally prepared for the challenges of the modern working world,” says the management of Pikatron GmbH.
Annual final exercise of the Usinger youth fire brigade at Pikatron
On October 5, 2024, the annual final exercise of the youth fire departments of all districts of Usingen took place on the Pikatron GmbH premises. A total of 40 young people took part in a realistic operational exercise in which they were alerted to a simulated fire. The aim was to find and rescue 9 missing people. Thanks to the professional efforts of the young firefighters, the operations manager was able to report “fire out and everyone rescued” after just under an hour. We at Pikatron GmbH are pleased that we were able to support the fire fighters of tomorrow in their training. We view this as an important part of our preventive fire protection. A big thank you to everyone involved and the youth fire department for their excellent work!

Pikatron receives anniversary certificate from the IHK
Yesterday the delegation from the Frankfurt am Main Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK) visited us at Pikatron GmbH in Usingen. Under the leadership of IHK President Ulrich Caspar, they visited our company as part of the regular tour of the Hochtaunus district.
Our managing director Dr. Matthias Staab led the delegation through our production facility and provided exciting insights into our 50-year success story. A special highlight of the day was the handover of the IHK anniversary certificate by Mr. Caspar to our managing director. Many thanks to the IHK and the Hochtaunuskreis for their valuable support and recognition of our work.
Ready for an emergency
We are pleased that our fire extinguishing exercise, carried out by fire protection officer Jürgen Zipser, was a complete success for our colleagues at the Rasdorf location. The event was very well received by our employees, because it's not every day that you get the opportunity to try out a fire extinguisher yourself. A big thank you to Mr. Zipser for his short but informative explanations on the subject of fire protection - they were extremely helpful and significantly improved the understanding of the correct use of fire extinguishers. Safety concerns us all, and such exercises are an important step in the right direction!
Successful health day at the Rasdorf site
The event was extremely well received by our employees. A total of 23 colleagues used the cardio scan and received valuable advice from Ms. Kühler from AOK.
The employees had a lot of fun with the hula hoops that Ms. Kühler had brought with her. After her clear explanation, even the doubters managed to get the hoops swinging!
It was a great day full of exercise, information and good humor. Many thanks to everyone who took part.
First digital staff meeting a complete success
The management has successfully held the first digital staff meeting at the German locations of the Pikatron Group. The event, which was held online due to the geographically dispersed locations, was very well received by colleagues.
The management took the opportunity to provide important information first-hand. The feedback from the locations was consistently positive, which further underlines the successful implementation of the digital meeting.
We are currently undergoing recertification
As of this week, the Pikatron Group is undergoing ISO 9001 recertification and ISO 50001 certification. It is not yet clear when we will receive the new ISO 9001 certificate. But it is clear that we will receive the new ISO 9001 certificate.
For the period until the new ISO 9001 certificate is available, TÜV Rheinland has issued us with a confirmation of the certification procedure in accordance with ISO 9001:2015. You can find the corresponding document under Downloads > Certificates.
In-house IPC specialist training secured
We are pleased that a "Train the Trainer" training course in the IPC area was successfully carried out at the Creuzburg site. Thanks to this comprehensive training, we are still able to train our own IPC specialists and pass on our know-how in-house.
A big thank you goes to everyone involved who made this success possible. We look forward to the future work of our IPC trainers and the training of the next IPC specialists in the IPC-A-610 area in the Pikatron Group!
New trainer in Usingen
We are pleased to announce that Ms. Klatt has successfully passed her trainer aptitude test. With this qualification, she will take over the training of industrial clerks at Pikatronam's Usingen site.
We would like to congratulate Ms. Klatt on this success and are convinced that she will accompany our trainees on their way with a great deal of commitment and specialist knowledge. We wish her all the best and every success in this new role.
Visit to the Usingen Laurentius-Kerb
Last weekend, the traditional Laurentius-Kerb took place in Usingen, and the team from the Usingen site was also represented in large numbers. Over 50 colleagues took part in the festivities together and enjoyed the special atmosphere of the popular folk festival.
In addition to socializing on the fairground and visiting the rides, culinary specialities and live music were also on the agenda. It was a wonderful opportunity to get together outside of the working day and strengthen the community.
Pikatron cycles for the climate
Colleagues, relatives and shareholders of Pikatron GmbH are motivated to take part in CITY CYCLING again this year! The goal is to cover as many kilometers as possible by bike, both privately and professionally. Together we pedal hard for:

Pikatron supports forest conservation
Thanks to the generous donations - including from the KAMIC Group - to celebrate our 50th company anniversary, we are preserving two beautiful beech trees. Pikatron GmbH has been a partner of beech trees No. 202 and No. 203 in the Usingen Oberwald forest area since June 7, 2024.
Our partnership stands for the appreciation of the many positive effects of forest trees on us humans and supports the city of Usingen in protecting the mixed forest.
Employee outing to the Oppenroder Motorsport Arena
Last weekend, an excursion to the Oppenroder Motorsport Arena was organized by employees of Pikatron. A total of 18 drivers, consisting of employees and their families, took part in this special event. The participants demonstrated their driving skills in a thrilling race. After an exciting and fair competition, Philipp Groos was the clear winner. This employee excursion was a complete success. It not only promoted team spirit and collegiality, but also offered a welcome change from everyday work. The enthusiasm and fun that everyone involved had will certainly be remembered for a long time.
Students from TU Darmstadt visit Pikatron
On July 11, 2024, the students of the “Sensors, actuators and electronics” (SAE) course at the Technical University of Darmstadt had the opportunity to visit the Pikatron location in Usingen. Here, the aspiring engineers were offered a comprehensive insight into the diverse working world at Pikatron, from development to production. During the tour, the students had the opportunity to ask questions and exchange ideas with Pikatron's engineers and technicians. These direct conversations were particularly valuable for the students as they were able to gain a realistic impression of the professional opportunities and challenges of an engineer in a medium-sized company.

Team building at Pikatron

Successful 5S workshop in Haan
The recent 5S workshop at the Pikatron location in Haan was a great success! Under the leadership of Mr. Bierey (production manager), our dedicated employees have worked intensively to integrate the principles of 5S into our work processes.
What is 5S? For those who don't know: 5S stands for sorting, setting, cleaning, standardizing and self-discipline.
This method aims to improve workplace efficiency and safety through order and cleanliness.
A big thank you to all participants and to Mr. Bierey for the excellent management of the workshop. We are proud of the progress we have made and look forward to continuing to embed the 5S principles in our everyday work at all locations.

Boys and Girls Day at Pikatron
April 25th was Boys' and Girls' Day. At the location in Usingen, 9 young people were able to look behind the scenes of production and try out soldering.
Soldering involves joining electronic components together to create complex devices, whether in the electronics, automotive or aerospace industries. It requires precision, patience and a skilled hand. Under the guidance of our trainees, the boys and girls were able to solder smileys and clearly had fun.
The sun is shining for Pikatron
We are very pleased that the inverters have now been installed and our new PV system has been successfully connected at the Usingen location. With this sustainable investment and now a total of 260 kWp, we are sending a strong signal for environmental protection and the use of renewable energies. The PV system will not only reduce our energy costs, but also help reduce our ecological footprint. We look forward to shaping a greener future together!

A new hall means more structure
After production successfully moved to the newly built hall in 2024, space in the previous production hall became available. A very good way to structure our warehouse.
Many new high racks were built, distributed storage areas were eliminated to create additional production space and the material inventory was also reduced. Now the materials management department is happy about more structure and is already busy filling the new shelves.

Club of young inventors visits Pikatron
At the end of February, the young inventors from Neu-Anspach came to Pikatron in Usingen for a trial day. While the Young Inventors Club, a club for children and young people, was given a tour of the laboratory and production, they also enthusiastically examined the modern technology of 3D printing and laser cutting.
In addition to a lot of exciting processes and machines, the children also had information about the possibilities of completing internships and apprenticeships at Pikatron. A very successful day with many interesting insights.
Additional Pikatron employees become IPC specialists
Within the group of IPC documents for acceptance criteria, IPC A-610 is the most frequently used and well-known inspection standard within the electronics industry. At Pikatron, our goal is not only to ensure our quality standards, but also to continually improve them. A further four employees from the Rasdorf and Haan locations have now been successfully trained as IPC specialists. On this basis, we can visually evaluate the many soldering joints, which are often carried out manually, even better.
Research joint project with TU Darmstadt in the home stretch
In collaboration with the TU Darmstadt, Pikatron is researching the use of solid-state switches based on SiC technology (silicon carbide) for high-voltage, high-frequency switches, such as those that can be used in accelerator facilities (FAIR Darmstadt).
It would be conceivable to replace the previously prevailing mechanical GAP switches.
This project is supported by the LOEWE funding line 3 of the state of Hessen.

Early commissioning of the new production hall
The first partial construction inspection took place last Thursday together with the company carrying out the construction. Some points are still open, but on Friday we were able to inform our colleagues with a summarized overview of the construction period and its milestones that the new production hall can be put into operation early from today, January 29, 2024. As part of the 50th anniversary celebration on June 7th and the open day, we will officially inaugurate the hall in 2024.

Great news on sustainability. We set new standards in energy saving.
Our gas consumption has fallen by an impressive 13%. Thanks to efficient heating technologies and clever use.
By electricity? Here, too, we recorded a reduction of 16% in 2023 compared to the previous year. Energy-saving lighting and devices make this possible. Every step counts on our path to a greener future. Let’s continue to conserve energy and resources together!
Pikatron aims for climate positivity by 2045
For us, sustainability is a central component of responsible corporate management.
As a signatory to the UN Global Compact and the German Sustainability Code, we contribute to the implementation of the United Nations' Agenda 2030.
With our customer-specific products and technologies, we also support the ecological transformation of our economy and the achievement of the Paris climate goals. We aim to become climate neutral by 2039 and climate positive by 2045. This means that Pikatron will achieve net-zero emissions in its operations by 2039 and will save more emissions than it produces from 2045 onwards.

Pikatron Usingen – Another production hall is being built (Part 10)
The floor slab has now been cast and dried, the electrics and lighting have been installed and the high-speed doors have been installed as a connection to the existing hall.
The outdoor area is also being diligently adapted to the new conditions.
A wider fire brigade access and staging area and new parking spaces will be created.
Every day we get a little closer to completing and thus putting our new production hall into operation.
We are extending the holidays!

Fire brigade trains for emergencies at Pikatron
Scenario: "A service technician falls in the utility shaft and has to be rescued."
The Usingen Volunteer Fire Department is training for exactly this emergency with nine emergency services at Pikatron under the training manager of Sven Blecher (on the right in the picture) and the supervision of Pikatron fire protection officer Jürgen Zipser.
The injured man was successfully rescued from the shaft on a spinboard.
Special operations like this are often trained in collaboration with the fire department in order to be best prepared in an emergency.
EMKlub day at BorgWarner AKASOL in Darmstadt
Last friday there was an inspiring EMKlub day with a general meeting of the Association of Friends of Practical Development Methodology at the TU-Darmstadt e.V. Our host Dr. Björn Eberleh from BorgWarner AKASOL presented an insight into professional electrical storage technologies. From our side, Dr. Staab, Dr. Hickman and Dr. Bieker took part. For Pikatron, active participation in the alumni network www.emklub.de has paid off. We were able to recruit practically all of Pikatron GmbH's managers.
Successful start – Pikatron now eats culinary.
For a week now, Pikatron employees at the Usingen location have had the opportunity to order their lunch online from HOFMANNs.
From a selection of over 250 menus you can find something for every taste.
The offer has been well received by colleagues - almost 100 dishes have already been ordered. Ascending trend!

The extension of the factory hall has created space for 20 new jobs for Pikatron at the Rasdorf location. This means that the first new colleagues can already be welcomed.

The Lauchringen location is practicing in the event of an emergency
Regular fire drills are an important part of an effective fire protection strategy.
At Pikatron, we regularly train our employees at all locations and thus help ensure that everyone involved is well prepared for an emergency and that the risk of damage and injuries is minimized.
At the Pikatron location in Lauchringen, this case has just been rehearsed again and the use of the fire extinguisher has been brushed up again together with our fire protection officer, Mr. Zipser.
Lots of new colleagues
Pikatron is constantly growing and changing. In addition to spatial expansions through moves and new buildings, we have also grown in terms of personnel.
In 2023, the number of employees in the Pikatron Group increased to over 500 and the team is currently looking forward to welcoming new faces at all locations.
Pikatron for a good environmental balance
With a powerful 80kWp output, our new PV system now converts sunlight into energy.
The roof of the new production hall is equipped with 190 modules facing east so that the first rays of sunshine in the morning can be used for internal consumption.
In this way, it optimally complements the existing PV systems on the existing roofs.
Pikatron is at the forefront of Usingen city cycling
The Pikatron team took second place in the Usingen city cycling and had the most kilometers cycled per capita.
Respect for this sporting achievement!
City cycling, what is that?
Basically, in addition to having fun cycling, CITY CYCLING is about consciously using the bike for the promotional period of 21 days and - if it has not yet been used in everyday life or only rarely - switching to the environmentally friendly means of transport. In addition to the benefits that the participants can derive from the campaign by exercising in the fresh air, they are also making a contribution to climate protection through the kilometers cycled.

Filters from the Tesch EMC brand were exhibited at the Nijkerk Electronics stand at this year's Electronics & Applications trade fair in Utrecht. Two exhibits from our very broad product range of feedthrough filters were shown.
Our Haan site manager, Stefan Wilhelm, took this as an opportunity to also visit the trade fair and make new contacts in the Benelux direction.

What could be better than a summer party at the new location in Haan?
Many colleagues from all six Pikatron locations came together last week in the best weather to celebrate and get an impression of the new location. The atmosphere was relaxed and, in addition to delicious food, there was lots of laughter and dancing.
A big thank you to the team in Haan for organizing this festival.
Pikatron Usingen - Another production hall is being built (Part 9)
It continues week after week. The entire Pikatron team in Usingen is looking forward to soon having even more space and expanding production.
The underfloor heating pipes have now been installed and have withstood the pressure test. The windows and gates are also installed.
The next milestone is the pouring of the concrete floor slab, which is scheduled for next week.
Pikatron is part of the Global Compact network
We at Pikatron fully share the GlobalGoals of a sustainable and future-proof supply chain, sustainability is a central component of responsible corporate governance for us. We have been active on various aspects of sustainability for decades and have been involved in regional sustainability projects since 2008. To mark our long-term commitment to advancing sustainability we just joined the United Nations Global Compact and Global Compact Netzwerk Deutschland e.V.. It is particularly important for us to reaffirm our commitment to sustainability and the TenPrinciples considering current global challenges. Therefore, we are now also using the Deutsche Nachhaltigkeitskodex as an introduction to uniform sustainability reporting.
Mayor visits Pikatron
Steffen Wernard: "Pikatron is a very important company in and for Usingen"
Yesterday, Usingen's mayor Steffen Wernard visited the largest Pikatron location together with Ute Harmel from the business development agency. The visitors were enthusiastic about the positive development of the Pikatron Group, which has grown steadily since the last visit in 2019 and now employs over 500 people (200 of them in Usingen). In addition to the ongoing production, the construction site of the new production hall was of course also visited.

In the meantime, the roofers have finished their work at treetop level, so that the photovoltaic system can soon be installed here.
In the next step, the hall floor slab is poured and windows, doors and gates are installed.

A lot has happened since the last update 4 weeks ago.
The Isowand facade has been installed and the roofers are already busy covering and sealing.
The new hall already fits very nicely into the image of the Pikatron site in Usingen.

Pikatron's location in the Czech Republic (Pisek) was visited for the second time by representatives of the city of Pisek and the South Bohemian Chamber of Commerce as part of establishing cooperation with important companies.

In this sense, the filling work on the new hall is currently taking place. The gravel base layer is already being applied here.
The next step is to finish the facade.
Fire protection training at Pikatron
How is a fire extinguisher operated? What can/must I do in an emergency? What must be considered?
Our employees are regularly trained by our fire protection officer.
Extinguishing training is currently taking place for employees at the Creuzburg site.

The final concrete foundations have been poured and the summer weather is helping with drying. The stretched nets and the erected scaffolding already give it away: This week we will continue with the roofing!
Trainees at Pikatron network through joint projects
Whether commercial or mechatronic, the training areas at Pikatron are diverse. In order to network our trainees despite their different areas of responsibility and to convey a sense of community, we have given them a common task.
Manufacture pallet lounge furniture in order to then enjoy a grilled sausage together at a get-together. They proudly present their results.

The construction workers have been very busy this week and have completed the assembly of the hall supporting structure.
The next step is to attach the facade.
We are pleased that the construction is progressing so quickly and that the hall's outlines are already impressive.

July 4th, 2023 is Social Day - also at Pikatron!
More than 60,000 students across Germany exchange their everyday school life for a job and donate their wages to Schüler Helfen Leben (SHL), an organization by young people for young people. Schüler Helfen Leben promotes and runs youth projects with a focus on education, encounters, democracy and commitment.
The daughter of an employee also works diligently at Pikatron in Usingen.
We've moved! Wuppertal became Haan

Pikatron Usingen - Another production hall is being built (part 3)
Today we went a big step further on the construction site. A large part of the pillars were placed in the intended positions by crane. By the end of the week all supports should be in place and aligned.

The construction of the new production hall at the Usingen site is progressing. The excavation is complete and the concrete for the foundations is being poured. We eagerly await the erection of the first supports.
Pikatron Rasdorf successfully expanded
While the Pikatron main site in Usingen is working on the new hall extension, the site in Rasdorf has already gone one step further and the production area has been successfully expanded by 300 square meters. We are pleased that we have now created space and capacity for more colleagues there.

The excavators have rolled out and the construction project can begin. To expand the production capacity, a new hall of 1,000 square meters is being built, which follows on from the extension from 2014.
Step by step, the grass soil was removed and preparations were made for digging the foundations.

Wuppertal workforce visits new location
May makes everything new – in this case June!
Because we are moving one of our locations this month.
The Wuppertal workforce has already been able to get a personal impression of the new workplace in Haan, which is only a few kilometers away from the previous location.

A lot has happened at Pikatron since her last visit in 2020. Together with Tobias Eckert, deputy chairman of the SPD parliamentary group and spokesman on economic policy, and Stephan Grüger, spokesman on energy and industrial policy, state parliament member Elke Barth admired the consistently positive development of the Pikatron Group, which remained on course for success even during the pandemic and was able to dispense with short-time working.

140 sweet surprises
Pikatron wraps presents for children of families in need.
What would Christmas be without the typical sweets for children? This year's staff Christmas fundraiser collected money for gifts for children of families in need in the region. The company management again generously topped up the amount collected, and so 140 bags of sweets and small animal figurines were packed by hard-working helpers. The campaign complements the wish list campaign of the DRK Usingen.

We are very pleased about our new team leaders.
At our Czech site in Pisek, we are continuing to expand our team leader structures in parallel with our production employees. We are delighted to welcome so many female managers to our subsidiary pikatron cz s.r.o.. We wish all our female and male colleagues a good start!

Cultivation in Rasdorf
We are also increasing our production capacity at the Rasdorf site.
Together with our landlord, the Wiegand company, we are expanding our production facility in Rasdorf and are able to create new regional jobs. Thus we strengthen our location and can meet the increased demand for electromagnetic components in the future. We are looking forward to numerous applications in the production area and a breath of fresh air at our location in Rasdorf. A big thank you to the company Wiegand for the excellent support!

STARTKLAR - the apprenticeship fair in the Hochtaunuskreis; we were there!
As a local company with attractive opportunities in the areas of apprenticeship, internships and studies, we presented ourselves and some of our products at the STARTKLAR apprenticeship fair in Usinger Land. After many exciting conversations with open-minded young people at our booth, we would like to thank all those who were interested and, of course, our colleagues. We hope to welcome some familiar faces in our company soon.
Summer fete 2022
Despite the less than summery weather, a complete success!
Last Sunday, our courtyard was filled with employees from all locations, former colleagues, shareholders and, of course, their families to celebrate together. Especially for the children there was versatile entertainment. Those who dared could even learn circus tricks with various equipment. After a motivating speech by Dr. Staab, the buffet was opened with a large selection of food and drink, which ensured an exuberant mood despite the rainy weather.
