High voltage transformers

Compact high-voltage transformers or high-voltage transformers or HV transformers are finding their way into more and more areas of industry. As a high-voltage transformer with 50 Hz, as a high-voltage converter up to 150 kHz or as a high-voltage pulse transformer for pulse powers up to 15 MW. With the help of high voltage, they enable, for example, imaging processes in medical technology (e.g. computer tomography), the prevention of collisions on ships through radar scanning, the filtering of contaminated air in industrial halls or the plasma activation of plastic surfaces that would otherwise not be printable.

Characteristics

High-voltage transformers are characterized by extremely high insulation strength. This is achieved either through spacing or through a combination of spacing and an insulator. This insulator can be, for example, casting compound or oil. However, the distance reduces the coupling between the primary and secondary sides and increases the leakage inductance. At low frequencies (e.g. 50 Hz), sufficient power can still be transmitted despite large leakage inductance. At higher frequencies in the kilohertz range, power transmission becomes increasingly difficult. Here too, we can offer you a suitable concept depending on your challenge.

Areas of application

The applications of our high-voltage transformers range from medical technology to traffic and environmental technology to mechanical and plant engineering. They are always used when standard solutions (e.g. due to partial discharge, dielectric strength, size) are not good enough for your application.
