Electronic converters

Electronic converters convert voltages into other voltages with the aid of electronic circuits. Compared to classic power transformers, these converters operate at much higher frequencies and can thus be built much smaller. In addition, further properties such as overvoltage resistance, short-circuit resistance, derating via temperature and valuable diagnostic and control functions can be added comparatively easily.

DC/DC converter

The DC/DC converter is also called DC-DC converter. The function of this converter is to transform the supplied DC voltage, which is present at the input, into a DC voltage with a higher, lower or inverted voltage level by opening and closing a switching element. DC-DC converters are, among other things, part of power supplies (e.g. printers) and are also used in industry (e.g. PLC controls).

Technical specifications

Rated power: 100 mVA ... 100 kVA
Primary voltage: 3 V ... 800 V
Secondary voltage: 1 V ... 30 kV
Current: 1 mA ... 1 kA
Dielectric strength: up to 5 kV

Examples

Designs

  • As an independent assembly (open frame) or as part of a device
  • Connections: any input and output connections
  • Cooling: Uncooled, air-cooled or media-cooled (e.g. water)
  • Connection: analog or digital interface

Fields of application

The applications of our DC-DC converters range from industrial electronics, traffic and environmental technology to medical technology. They are always used when standard solutions (e.g. partial discharge, design, ripple) are not good enough for your application.

AC/DC converter

The AC/DC converter converts an AC voltage into a DC voltage. This type of converter is often used when mains voltage is to be converted to auxiliary voltages. This can concern for example a 24VDC voltage supply for a bus system. We can realize almost any voltage level to get the optimum for your application. Please do not hesitate to contact us.

Technical specifications

Rated power: 100 mVA ... 100 kVA
Primary voltage: 3 V ... 800 V
Secondary voltage: 1 V ... 30 kV
Current: 1 mA ... 1 kA
Dielectric strength: up to 5 kV

  • Cooling: Uncooled, air-cooled or media-cooled (e.g. water)
  • Connection: analog or digital interface

Fields of application

The applications of our AC-DC converters range from environmental technology, mechanical engineering to industrial electronics. They are always used when standard solutions (e.g. geometry, dielectric strength, wide range, performance) do not meet your application-specific requirements.

DC/AC converter

The DC/AC converter converts an existing DC voltage into an AC voltage. Depending on the application, it generates a single-phase or multi-phase output voltage. It can be used, for example, to convert the direct current generated in photovoltaic modules into alternating current. For this type of converter, too, we offer you a 100% customer-specific implementation specially adapted to your application.

AC/AC converter

An AC/AC converter converts an AC voltage into at least one other AC voltage. Both the voltage level and the frequency can be changed. Applications of these converters are for example in the field of power supply of simple drives. But also for all other applications we can develop and manufacture a customized solution for you, which serves your challenge in an optimal way.

Other electronic converters

In addition to the electronic transducers shown, the Pikatron Group also offers many other types. In some cases, only the terms differ, but in others these are genuine special cases for which we can, of course, also help you. In all probability we can also help you with discontinued electronic transducers of other manufacturers, if your application does not permit a fundamental renewal. But also for the update of your complete application we are at your disposal. Just contact us.
